DSB is the Deutsche Schule Bombay, a German school in Mumbai with around 250 students spread around two campuses, Garden Campus and Aurum House. Garden Campus has a large garden as the name suggests, next to a beach, Breach Candy. Beaches are some of the most garbage-filled places in Mumbai. Similarly, Aurum house is next to Chowpatty beach. Chowpatty was where we collected the garbage for our G-Cubes project. We have students from all around the world, from Korea to Israel to the UAE. We have advanced labs and wonderful spaces, as we try to limit classrooms and prefer wide-open spaces. These spaces reflect how students speak out. Although almost everyone speaks a different language, no one is afraid to speak out about any issues they may have. Thanks to this, DSB is very personalized and has something unique. DSB also offers for both IGCSE and IB. We also celebrate a variety of festivals and celebrations. At DSB we have a variety of different people and projects, like G-Cubes. This allows us to get many different experiences, which not only look good on college applications but give us valuable skills for real life. We go to many places and are offered activities like MUN and Green Team. We also do a lot of charity, like clothing drives, bake sales and collections. This allows us to become more global citizens and active members of society.

Garbage
India is a country that is steeped in culture, tradition and most importantly, life and biodiversity. It is a shame for such a beautiful country to have so much plastic waste. It really gives a bad impression to other people. We love India, and we want it to thrive. This garbage gives India quite a bad name, so we do not get the number of tourists we need to sustain our huge and rapidly increasing population. We have fish being killed on a daily basis in the oceans because some people might not have access to a way to safely dispose of trash. Some people in Mumbai really couldn’t care less about what happens to their waste. It goes in their bin, and it’s out of their life. Out of sight, out of mind. In Mumbai, there is quite a bit of garbage that could have been easily prevented. Also, with India covering a major chunk of the world population (17.99%), if we start making less garbage, not only will we directly make Earth a cleaner place but we will too have a big influence over other parts of the world, making the world even cleaner.

People think of Mumbai as one of the dirtiest places on the planet, and if they see that we decide to make our own city cleaner, they might too. We are not just trying to clean up just our neighbourhood, but we are trying to clean up the whole world. Unfortunately, most of the trash made in Mumbai are just dumped in garbage dumps today. These garbage dumps are growing rapidly, and if we don’t stop as soon as possible, they could make the whole city stink. It brings as one step closer to the end of humanity as a whole. We should try to produce less plastic but make other alternatives that are more environment-friendly materials. Like for instance, biodegradable plastic. If we don’t, we might destroy this era of peace and prosperity which graces us with its presence as of this instant. Cleaning the world isn’t just saving our planet from disaster, it is also a way of life. We have to start somewhere. If we start cleaning our home, our Mumbai, it will bring us hope, clarity to life, pleasure, peace, clean Earth and many other fair qualities of life we deserve. But if we just continue throwing out trash in dumps, we do not deserve the fair qualities. The gift, our Earth, isn’t something we can make, there is no backup planet, there is no planet B. If we fail Earth, we fail ourselves.

G-Cubes
What I understood about G-Cubes is that they travel the world and collaborate with students worldwide and inspire them to make our world a better place. Working alongside the G-Cubes team I got to face one of my greatest fears…
I’m Germaphobic!
Yes, that’s right, I get very scared of germs everywhere and with the recent Coronavirus spreading around it just makes me paranoid. Also, we feel that certain risks need to be taken and fears need to be met in order to become a better person and that’s why we separately volunteered to go to the beach clean ups and we together are making the world a better place one step at a time
I think that this should be a duty, not an option because the reason that 99.99% of the world is covered in garbage I learned this from pogos Chota bheem episode 4 season 2 ‘kachra nikal’. Also, we learned that as we were influenced by our parents. These are toxic gases, and we are being exposed to harmful chemicals, and this does not seem to be the right choice at this moment, because of the fact that these are harmful, and also that right now with this Coronavirus going around, this is not the ideal time for us to have our immune systems down.
